Yousfi broaches with UK ambassador Industry cooperation                                                                                           28/08/2017                                                                                                                                                      The Minister of Industry and Mines, Youcef Yousfi, welcomed the UK ambassador Andrew Noble to Algiers on Sunday, with whom he spoke mainly of strengthening cooperation in the industrial and mining sectors between Two countries, the ministry said in a statement. Read more.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       JSW Steel Company negotiates with Cevital to acquire mill in Italy for $100 million                                                                                                                        28/08/2017                                                                                                                                                             An Indian steel company, owned by JSW Group based in Mumbai, managed by by Sajjan Jindal, has launched negotiations with Algerian Company “Cevital”, to acquire its Aferpi steel mill in Italy, for an amount estimated at USD 100 million, Outlookindia website reported on Monday, citing Industrial source. JSW Steel is in talks with Cevital Group to acquire Aferpi, an industry source confirmed. Earlier, the private steel maker had earlier tried to acquire the mill in 2014, when it was known as Lucchini. The Algerian conglomerate Cevital, however, acquired Lucchini and renamed it Acciaierie e Ferriere di Piombino (Aferpi). JSW Steel may offer a financial consideration of USD 100 million (about Rs 639 crore) to Cevital Group to acquire the mill, the source said. Emails sent to JSW Steel and Cevital Group, in this regard, remained unanswered while the JSW Group official did not respond to the calls. Read more.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Algeria's agricultural production amounts to DZD3,000 bn                       24/08/2017                                                                                                                                                  Algeria's agricultural production has reached DZD3,000 billion as a result of the significant resources made available by the government, the minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing,  Abdelkader Bouazgui, said Wednesday. The minister stressed during a working visit in the wilaya that this value represents a bill of $ 30 billion, praising the sustained efforts of farmers at all levels to meet the needs of citizens. Visiting a vineyard operation in Chaabat L'ham, Mr. Bouazgui recalled the important means and support provided by the State to the agricultural sector since 2000 in the framework of the development programs initiated by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, contributing to the satisfaction of 60 to 70 percent of the national needs in agro-food products. "The programs that have benefited the sector have made it possible to realize a significant number of objectives drawn and to place agriculture at the heart of development," he said. Read more.                                                                                       Import licensing system still in force, repeal covers regulatory aspects only                                                                                 28/08/2017                                                                                                                                                             The import licensing system, in force since December 2015, has been "maintained" while the Executive Decree of 22 August 2017 published in the Official Journal revoked only some regulatory aspects included in the decree of June 2017, which modifies the 2015 decree, said Sunday a Trade Ministry statement. "The Ministry wishes to inform all economic operators that the system of import or export licenses is still in force while the repeal contained in Executive Decree 17-245 of 22 August 2017 concerns only certain aspects Regulations of Decree 17-202 of 22 June 2017 amending and supplementing Decree 15-306 of 6 December 2015, "said a ministry statement sent to the APS. According to the communiqué, "the provisions of Decree 15-306 laying down the terms and conditions for the application of the import or export licensing regime for products and merchandise remain in force". Read more.                                                                                      Projects to build 330,000 housing units to be launched soon                       24/08/2017                                                                                      The Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City Abdelwahid Temmar announced Wednesday in Algiers that his department considered the launch of the implementation works of 330,000 housing units whose works had not already started, as part of the program to build 1,600,000 housing units including 55,000 in Algiers and 120,000 rental housing units (AADL) and other housing types. Speaking at a key handover ceremony to the LPP and AADL subscribers, the minister said the re-launch of these projects was part of the priorities of the sector's action plan, adding that "50% of the programs are ready and await the settlement of problems relating to land ". For the first person in charge of the sector, the launching of the work of these programs requires "a great effort" and a "strict respect of the planning of realization". 28/08/2017                                                                                                                                                          The Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Abdelwahid Temmar, said Monday in Algiers that his department has begun preparing a roadmap by opening eight (8) workshops on several aspects , including the possibility of revising the planning, finance, monitoring, training and Other Act to speed up the implementation of a designated habitat program. According to Temmar, the roadmap prepared by his ministry includes several components, including the urban planning component, with the participation of all actors in the housing sector.
