Lord Risby – the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy in Algeria
In November 2012, Lord Risby was announced as one of nine Prime Ministerial Trade Envoys, with responsibility for Algeria.
From 2011 to 2015, he was the Vice-Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for East Asian Business.
He has been on the EU External Affairs Committee in the Lords since 2015
Parliamentary career:
He joined the House of Lords in 2010.
Prior to this, he served as Member of Parliament (MP) for from 1992 to 2010.
Business career:
Following his graduation from Cambridge University, he started his career in the City. He joined Merrill Lynch in 1971 and was appointed as vice-president in 1976, a position which he held until 1986. He has furthermore worked with E F Hutton, Lehman Brothers and Furman Selz.
