Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles (KCMG LVO)

Sherard joined HSBC in 2013 as Senior Advisor to the Group Chief Executive, and was appointed Group Head of Government Affairs in 2015. He is Chairman of HSBC Bank Oman, and a Director of HSBC Bank Egypt. From 2011 to 2013, he worked for BAE Systems. Earlier he spent over 30 years in the British Diplomatic Service, finishing his career as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. Sherard chairs the UK Financial Inclusion Commission, and sits on the Boards of the China-Britain Business Council and Asia House.
